This is the personal website of Roy van Grunsven. You can find information on my work as ecologist, including my publications, but many other things I find interesting will follow.
Since August 2017 I work as ecologsit at Dutch Butterfly Conservation. The focus of my work is on dragonflies although I sometimes have projects on butterflies and moths as well. The cor of my work is studying the current trends of dragonflies and trying to improve the conditions for rare and threathened species.
I previously worked on the ecological effects of artificial light on flora and fauna at the Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries, IGB in Berlin. This is a very exiting field as large parts of the world are illuminated but we hardly know anything about the effects on ecology. Until very recently nights were dark with a very predictable variation in day length through the year. With artificial light this has changed in a few decades. This affects many organisms, some because they depend on darkness, other because they use day length as a calendar.
In my free time I enjoy the study of dragonflies, and scuba diving. For both I also like to do some photography of which you can see some results on this website. If you have any question regarding my work or something else feel free to contact me through the form on this website.
